Centurama Ribbon

Milwaukee’s centennial celebration in 1946 was hailed as a one that looked back on the past, but focused more on the future. The Milwaukee Centurama, as it was called, comprised primarily of a 31-day festival near the current site of the War Memorial on the lakefront.  Concerts, food and entertainment made the festival one of Milwaukee’s most memorable. A silk ribbon was signed by city, county and other officials primarily responsible with promoting the celebration. Mayor John L. Bohn and County Board Chairman Lawrence J. Timmerman’s signatures are among those included on the ribbon.
