Flag of the 7th Light Battery
A flag always holds symbolic meaning, but when a flag is carried into battle during war, its meaning transforms. This flag, that of the 7th Light Battery of Wisconsin Volunteers Light Artillery was the battleflag of that unit. Known as the Badger State Flying Artillery, the unit only saw action during the siege and capture of Island No. 10, in the Mississippi River. The flag was donated by the grandchildren of Captain Arthur B. Wheelock, who belonged to the unit.
