How to Donate
Thank you for considering a material donation to the Milwaukee County Historical Society. We greatly appreciate your interest in helping preserve our community’s history. Please note that we can only accept items that were made, used, or have a clear connection to Milwaukee County.
Our collections are managed by two departments:
object Collections
This department cares for our object collection, which includes more than 80,000 items. These range from three-dimensional objects such as textiles, ceramics, political memorabilia, furniture, and artwork to select two-dimensional materials like posters and advertising pieces. Each object helps tell the story of Milwaukee County and is preserved for future exhibits and research.
Research Library and Archives
The Archives cares for more than 17,000 cubic feet of materials, including naturalization records, civil court cases, coroner’s inquests, 3,000 manuscript collections, oral history interviews, and more than one million images. Whether tracing family history, conducting academic research, or exploring a chapter of local history, the Research Library offers a welcoming place to begin.
