Title: McElroy Family, 1821-1954
Call Number: Mss-0864
Bulk: .9 cu. ft.

Location: BV, Sh. 154

Abstract:

This collection contains correspondence, clippings, speeches, essays, genealogical material, and other ephemera pertaining to the Dousman, Elliott, and McElroy families.  Each generation was prominent in the Milwaukee of their day, particularly in the political and legal fields.  The majority of the Dousman letters focus on Martha Dousman (Mrs. George Dousman) and her family, the Chappelles.  The Elliott material is chiefly that of the Hon. Eugene Stanhope Elliott, the husband of Kittie Dousman (she was the daughter of George & Martha Dousman), and contains some Civil War letters.  The McElroy material relates mainly to William J. McElroy, Milwaukee Assemblyman from 1887 to 1891.  He was married to Lillian Elliott, daughter of Eugene and Kittie Elliott.

Administrative Note:

The material is the gift of the estate of Miss Helen McElroy, daughter of William J. and Lillian McElroy.
