Abstract: Max T. Heller founded the Milwaukee Printing Company on October 2, 1899.  Two years later, his younger brother, William, joined the firm.  The company grew steadily its first decade, but starting in 1910, it experienced tremendous growth once it became involved in the packaging of candy using aluminum foil and then cellophane.  The company moved to larger quarters on Florida Street in 1910 and gradually expanded its operation to produce a wide variety of flexible packaging materials.  In 1936, the company’s name was changed to Milprint, Inc., and over the years, it acquired plants across the country to meet its worldwide demand.  In 1951, the company erected a huge plant on N. Holton Street in Milwaukee.  Philip Morris, Inc., acquired Milprint in 1957, and it continued operating as a subsidiary until the Holt Street plant closed in 1988.
