Abstract: Captain John C. Johnson founded the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1857.  Initially located in Janesville, the company was moved to Milwaukee in 1859 and has since grown into one of the country’s largest and most well-respected insurance/financial planning organizations.
