71st Annual Awards Dinner

Each year, the Milwaukee County Historical Society hosts an Annual Awards Dinner that celebrates Milwaukee and the people and institutions that make it special. The evening includes recognition of community entities celebrating milestone anniversaries, as well as distinguished awards bestowed upon specific individuals or organizations that have shaped Milwaukee’s past and continue to forge its future.

Damn the Old Tinderbox! is the gripping tale of one of the Gilded Age’s forgotten calamities, a fire that remains among the deadliest unsolved arsons in American history, and a significant chapter in both the history of Milwaukee and the Midwest.”

Climates of Inequality: Symposium on Collecting Silenced Histories

A half-day symposium on Collecting Silenced Histories. Connecting visiting and local historians together to discuss the collection of Latinx Oral Histories. 
 
Explore the “That Unfinished Work Project,” a vibrant showcase of diverse local stories. From community elders to grassroots activists, historians, and scholars, our exhibition uncovers the varied narratives woven into Milwaukee’s fabric. This project is in tandem with the new Milwaukee County Historical Society traveling exhibit, “Climates of Inequality: Stories of Environmental Justice.”
