Hands-On History Experiences
The Milwaukee County Historical Society offers a variety of educational experiences for students of all ages. From a historic house, to a 160-year-old farm, to a downtown museum full of historic items and documents, there are many ways your class can enjoy learning about history.
Hands-On History In-School Experiences
Can’t make it to our downtown museum or Trimborn Farm? Or would you like an opportunity to expand on your in-school curriculum? Hands-on History is for you!
Our staff educator comes to your classroom and brings her history trunks for your students to explore. A one-hour program, the educator explores a specific topic with your students that meets common core standards and allows them to experience artifacts through this hands-on and interactive experience.
Currently, the program is open to 4th grade classrooms. If you’d like more information or if you want to schedule your visit, please contact Mary Jo Knapp at mjknapp@milwaukeehistory.net or 414-273-8288.
Milwaukee History Teacher Workshops
Twice a year, the Milwaukee County Historical Society and our partners offer teacher workshops. Educators gather for a day of learning and exploring Milwaukee history with an emphasis on curriculum development.
If you’d like more information or to be on the list to learn about these opportunities, please contact Mary Jo Knapp at mjknapp@milwaukeehistory.net or 414-273-8288.
