Scope and Content: Mr. Green was born in Ontario, Canada (1860-1911). He immigrated to the United States and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1884. He was the first African American man to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1892. He was a civil rights activist and attorney. Additionally, it is thought that he contributed to the state’s first civil rights laws in 1891. The file includes portions of a probate file #30043 corresponding to Mr. Greene.
