Abstract: Frank Miller was born in Milwaukee on October 1, 1887. He enlisted in the army in 1908. As a member of the 2nd Cavalry, he fought Islamic Moros tribesmen in the southern Philippines. After he left the military in 1917, he returned to Milwaukee and married Marie Wronoski. Marie was born in the Russian section of Poland and immigrated to the U.S. in 1914. Frank and Marie had three children: Henry, Marion and Gladys. Frank worked as a truck driver and machinist, but the family lost their home during the Great Depression, and Frank found work through the Works Progress Administration before he and Marie bought property near Montello, Wisconsin.
Scope and Content: The records consist of two binders with documents and photos regarding Frank, Marie and other members of the Wronoski and Miller families. Also included is a folder with photocopies of documents related to Frank’s work with the WPA, as well as a family history written by Linda Miller Hinners, six Washington High School reunion booklets from 1969-1999, and a fragile baptismal certificate for John Mueller (in German), 1887.
