Landscape painting. Oil on canvas. Artist’s rendering of Milwaukee in 1848. View is from the west, looking east, on a hill overlooking the city. View of Milwaukee from the former location of the Pabst Brewing Co., at 9th & Winnebago.
This painting was originally housed in the headquarters of the Old Settler’s Club, a pioneer organization devoted to the preservation of Milwaukee’s early history. As membership declined in the 1930’s & 40’s, the bulk of their artifacts and archives were donated to the Milwaukee County Historical Society.
