Social Impact Study

FAQs

1. What is Social Impact?

Social Impact is the effect of an activity on the social fabric of a community and the wellbeing of the individuals and families who live there.

This is measured through four long-term outcomes:

    • Continued Learning and Engagement
    • Increased Health & Wellbeing
    • Valuing Diverse Communities
    • Strengthened Relationships

2. When does this study take place?

The Study period opens March 1st, 2025 through August 31st, 2025. Participants are encouraged to visit the MCHS any time during open hours: Monday, Wednesday-Saturday from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Visit our Google or Bing page for updates on any private event closures.

3. What is expected of a study participant?

If selected to participate, you will visit the Milwaukee County Historical Society with a guest 3 different times for FREE during the study period.

You will only complete ONE 30-minute social impact survey, and it will be emailed to you about two weeks after your third/final visit as part of this project or when we close the study, September 1st, whichever comes first. You will share how your experiences at the museum impacted various outcomes.

Your participation in the study is completely voluntary. You may withdraw at any time or refuse to participate entirely. There will be no penalty if such actions are taken, however you will forfeit your opportunity to attend the museum for free and any other participant incentives.

Study Participants Requirements: Only one applicant per household will be accepted. Applicants must be 18 years or older and you must live in Milwaukee County or its neighboring counties (including Ozaukee Co., Washington Co., Waukesha Co., Racine Co., Sheboygan Co., and Kenosha Co.) to participate.

4. What do I (the participant) get out of the study?

The study participant and guest receive FREE admission to the MCHS for 3 visits.

For your second museum visit, you and a guest will be invited to the exclusive Meet MKE exhibit re-opening at the MCHS happening in summer 2025.

Upon completion of the 3 visits and survey, you will receive a FREE MCHS Family Membership, and you will be entered into a drawing for a $100 visa gift card. Three winners will be drawn at random two weeks after the study period concludes, September 15th, 2025.

5. Where do I park?

The Milwaukee County Historical Society is partnered with Power Parking to provide discounted visitor parking. For $10 you may park in the 847 N. Plankinton Ave. Lot (at the corner of Plankinton Ave. and Kilbourn Ave.) for up to 5 hours. 20% of the revenue will be donated directly back to MCHS.

For discounted parking, DO NOT scan and pay at the lot.

After parking your car, instructions for payment will be available at the front desk in the Historical Center.

6. How do I Check-In?

Upon your first visit, bring the original confirmation email (printed or on your phone) to the front desk staff and they will give you a punch card that identifies you as a ‘study participant.’ You will be responsible for holding on to this card throughout the duration of the study. The card expires September 1st, 2025, so please plan your visits accordingly.

When you arrive at the museum for each of your visits, look for the ‘Social Impact’ flyer at the front desk. Scan the QR code with your smartphone or tablet and complete the form by typing your name.

Don’t forget to hit “Submit.” This checks you in for one of your three required visits. Be sure to follow this step for each visit!

7. Why is this study important?

Social Impact is directly associated with the MCHS mission.

  1. We will learn more about our audience/community.
  2. This survey will help us understand how we impact our community.
  3. We will learn what we can do to improve our community impact.
