In 1902 the Schlitz Brewery produced one million barrels, becoming the world’s largest brewer of beer, surpasing local Milwaukee rival, the Pabst Brewery. Schlitz beer was not only consumed in the United States, but exported around the world, giving certain legitmacy to the advertising slogan, “The beer that made Milwaukee famous”.
