Miller 8 Army Corps

M2010.020.217
c.1915

Miller 8 Army Corps beer label. Red white and blue label in the shape of a badge. American Flag design in the background with a soldier in a wide brimmed hat standing behind the Miller trademark text. Bordered in gold with manufacturer info along bottom.

Although not known precisely, this particular Miller product could be in commemoration of the 8th Army Corps that fought for the Union in the Civil War. Formed in Madison WI, they were known as “Old Abe”, named for the eagle that was carried with them through battle as a mascot. Their mascot was displayed  at various midwestern fairs following the war, including in Milwaukee.
