MILWAUKEE COUNTY LANDMARKS
County Landmark Application
In 1974, a Milwaukee County Ordinance designated the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee County Historical Society as the official agency to serve as an advisory body on county landmarks.
To be selected a County Landmark, a building, structure or site must fit one of the following criteria:
A. It reflects or exemplifies significance in the broad cultural, political, economic or social history of the nation, state or county.
B. It is connected associated with a significant historic event or a person or persons who significantly contributed to the culture and development of the nation, state or county.
C. It is a notable work of a master builder, designer or architect whose work influenced the development of the nation, state or county.
D. It embodies the distinguishing characteristics of an architectural type/specimen inherently valuable for studying a period style, architectural innovation or method of construction.
