Landmark Designation: 2003
Constructed during the 1920s as part of the “good roads movement,” the Highway 100 Bypass was among the earliest examples of a road intended to divert automobile traffic around a major city. For some eighty years since its initial construction, Highway 100 has continued to serve the interests of commerce and transportation in Milwaukee County by easing the flow of traffic through the center of the city.
