Scope and Content: Bronzeville was a historic neighborhood in Milwaukee, bordered by State St. to North Ave. and 3rd St. to 12th St., that was home to a large segment of Milwaukee’s African American population. Bronzeville was a center for black culture and economic growth in segregated Milwaukee from the 1930s through the 1960s. The neighborhood hosted thousands of black individuals who migrated northward to escape the rural American South.
Records consist of: A flyer and press release for a presentation at the Wisconsin Book Festival, a ledger book (1942), a newspaper article and a research collection proposal.
