Abstract: Jacob “Jake” Friedrick was a labor activist in Milwaukee. He was a pioneer in labor education, helping establish the Milwaukee Labor College after World War I. He also served on the advisory committee that administered the Wisconsin Unemployment Compensation law of 1932 and as secretary-treasurer of the Milwaukee Federated Trades Council.
Scope and Content: The collection includes a 1955 program for a testimonial dinner awarding Friedrick an honorary LL.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin; photocopies of a 1972 Milwaukee Journal article about Friedrick; and life membership cards in the Office & Professional Employees International Union Local No. 9, Milwaukee County Labor Council, and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
