ARTIFACT COLLECTION

Billie Jump Jump Doll

Doll
M2001.038.001
c. 1927-1961

Billie the Brownie figurine. Body composed of wood and cloth. Pink head and painted on eyes and mouth. Has a brown cloth suit and hat. A green cloth belt, shoes and gloves. Hat is glued on his head, but a small plume of blone hair pokes out. Gold colored thread is tied around his neck and black & white thread is tied around his ankles.

Variations of these dolls were purchased at Schuster’s Department stores during the holiday season when Billie the Brownie and the Schuster’s Christmas parade were prominent in Milwaukee from 1927 to 1961.

Thank you to Barb (Sitzberger) Sichi for adopting this artifact! This support enhances our Collections Department’s artifact preservation program. Learn more about our Adopt An Artifact program.
